YiShan Lea is a Professor of Bilingual Education at CWU. Her Ed. D. is in Curriculum and Instruction from Boise State University, Idaho. Her research background is in teacher education and education cultural ethnography. She has published many peer-reviewed articles and 3 book chapters. She is a co-founder of Teaching Equity is Central Conference, CWU, which brings synergy to and advocacy for the educational achievement of the linguistically and culturally diverse communities in the eastern Washington state. Her research follows the theme of humanistic concerns from the US to the issues of Latin American indigeneity and Caribbean historiography. The examples of her works include the Guatemala Q'eqchi' Maya social movements against the GMO Monsanto seeds in and the Q'eqchi' Mayan agricultural deities, rituals, and creative mythology. Her recent project is a book proposal on Jose Marti's poetry and literary-politico discourse in education application and teacher preparation.
